Sunday’s loonie auction was a huge success. The outpour of support was overwhelming and we are thankful to everyone who helped and participated. $3500.00 was raised.

After School Sports Program


Kodiak and Sarah-Marth enjoy a snack break at the new After School Sports Program.
Anne Glazov has been hired as the co-ordinator and Karen Reece has also been hired for the program. We are so excited to offer the program to grades 1-3 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and grades 4-7 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The program runs from 2:30 to 4:00 and is open to all children in Alert Bay. A bus ride home is provided.
You are welcome to come up and check it out!

Sunday Loonie Auction

February 12, at the Council Hall. Lunch will be served at 12, and the auction will start at 1. Money raised will go towards field trips, the cultural program and gym equipment.

Lacrosse at School

Today Brain Baxter the Aboriginal Development Coordinator with the BC Lacrosse Association came to our school. Brain worked with students in grades 4-7. They were told the history of the game and practiced the skills need to play. Brain left the equipment for Alert Bay School and NISS to use. We also found out that Mrs. Cole used to play Lacrosse, she is now inspired to work with her students after spring break on playing Lacrosse in PE class.

Family Literacy PJ Night

To celebrate Literacy week we are hosting our annual PJ night this Thursday January 26th in the library from 6:30-8:00. It’s a wonderful evening to curl up and enjoy books.
Following this Friday the 27th is bring a special person to read with you afternoon from 12:30-1:30.

Literacy 2000 Graduates

Being a fluent and expressive reader is a focus of our school. Good reading skills are essential to academic success. Vance, Cynthia and Skylar just completed the Literacy 2000 reading program that all students work through. Many students start the program in grade 1 and continue through until they graduate in the intermediate years.
A big party with classmates, staff and family was held.
